About Me.
I am Cam Bestwick, an educationalist and university administrator based in Melbourne, Australia. Most of my work has been helping universities to strengthen their student residences, and I also have solid training and experience with student affairs and student services more generally.

Experience
Swick Learning
I provide training and consulting services to the higher education sector. I am still refining exactly what I want Swick to become, but I know it will be characterised by helping clients to actually implement and sustain strategies. For more, see the Swick Learning website.
Berry Street
I am currently leading the school growth strategy for Berry Street which operates a network of school campuses across Victoria specialising in trauma-informed education and trains a quarter of all Australian schools in practising the Berry Street Educational Model (BSEM).
The University of Melbourne
I managed the University of Melbourne's new student accommodation portfolio during its establishment and critical early years, including during the pandemic.
Committee for Melbourne
I recently completed Melbourne's most established leadership development program, the Committee for Melbourne's Future Focus Group, which has been running for over 30 years.
Asia Pacific Student Accommodation Association (APSAA)
I have been a board member, chair, and regular contributor to the working groups of the peak body and professional association in the region, APSAA, over a period of several years.
The University of Sydney
I worked at The University of Sydney at first as a project manager mobilising, and then maturing, the operations of its new student accommodation portfolio; and later as the manager of a range of student services.
EY
I worked in EY's advisory practice helping clients in government & defence, higher ed, and aged care sectors with problems relating to risk management, project management, governance, process improvement, and procurement.
The Australian National University
My alma mater. I worked and studied at the ANU where was involved in many initiatives and programs over a period of about four years. I was as a research assistant on a study of teaching innovation and was valedictorian in my graduation from the business school
UniLodge Australia
I worked for UniLodge Australia establishing the residential education programs in a newly developed 2,000 room student accommodation precinct at the ANU. UniLodge is the largest student accommodation operator in Aus/NZ.
Crowe Global
I was a trainee financial planner for two years with Crowe (then Crowe Horwath) in the wealth management service line.
